Hanukkah Family Service IN PERSON

Friday, December 3, 2021 29 Kislev 5782

6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

Bring your chanukkiyot (Chanukkah menorahs) and Shabbat candlesticks (if you’d like) as we kindle the candles to celebrate both the annual festival of lights and the weekly holy day of Shabbat with a special musical service geared towards families with children.  Join Ronda Young with special guest Cantor Wendy Shermet and the musical stylings of Maia Conrad, Melanie Firestone and Jeff Snyder as we open the back of the sanctuary for tables where everyone can light their own candles, play dreidl, and sing Chanukkah songs throughout our shortened Shabbat service.

In the Reform movement the 6th night of Chanukkah is ner shel tzedakah, the candle of righteousness/charity, when we are asked to buy gifts NOT for ourselves but for others in need.  To that end, Beth Sholom is partnering with LoisAnn’s Hope House for their Home Sweet Home Initiative, to adopt a family as they transition into their own homes.

We have a sign up genius page (CLICK HERE) with the needed household items or you can donate cash which we will use to purchase larger ticket items.  Please keep an eye out for more information. Let’s make the sanctuary shine with our candles and our voices as we light up the lives of those in need with our gifts.
