VYBS Youth Group

Become a member of Virginia Youth of Beth Sholom! 

Virginia Youth of Beth Sholom (VYBS) welcomes all teenagers in the community in grades 8-12, both Jewish and in the process of converting to Judiaism. The group is dedicated to activities that encourage friendships within our Jewish community. We plan many social events and Tikkun Olam projects through both service to our temple families and the community at large.

VYBS members select officers, conduct monthly meetings and plan activities for the year with guidance, as needed, from adult advisors. Minimal dues are paid once a year for minor expenses.

Members are also strongly encouraged to join the North American Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY), which holds several regional events during the year, gathering Jewish youth from Virginia, North Carolina, Maryland and Delaware. VYBS is/has been well represented at NFTY-MAR activities.

Past activities included picnics at Belvedere Farm, Hanukkah parties, competitions at Laser Quest, Shul-Ins, barbecues, bowling events, Chocolate Seders and trips to Kings Dominion. Past social action activities included putting together Thanksgiving boxes for the homeless, gathering donations for Hope House, collecting food and working with the Fredericksburg Food Bank and supporting temple events. VYBS also runs the annual Purim carnival and supports the BST Purim Players.
