Who is Beth Sholom?
Beth Sholom's members come from a wide variety of socio and economic backgrounds. All are inspired to choose Beth Sholom Temple due to its warm, engaging congregation. From Reform to Orthodox, we strive to meet the needs of the entire Jewish community of Fredericksburg and its surrounding counties. Membership ranges from those who have attended for thirty and forty years to those who joined just last month. The old and the young, we've come to Judaism through a variety of ways, from birth to conversion.
A Message from Membership
The Membership Committee of Beth Sholom Temple personally invites you to be a member of our vibrant and diverse congregation. We hold weekly Friday night Shabbot services, a monthly Tots Shabbot, and a monthly Family Shabbot service. We also have shorter morning services and Torah study on Saturdays.
Our Religious and Hebrew School provides our students with a comprehensive program that leads to an in-depth and meaningful bar/bat mitzvah experience, as well as continuation to confirmation.
Activities and opportunities abound! We offer adult classes in Hebrew and Judaic studies and community projects such as the holiday meals we provide for the local homeless shelter residents, in addition to Sisterhood, Youth Group, Book Club and Sunday morning Bagel Bar, just to mention a few. There are numerous ways you may want to get involved in temple life at Beth Sholom. We have opportunities for participation and volunteering at services, on a committee, through Religious School or one of our Temple groups.
As you consider Beth Sholom Temple for your Jewish congregational home, we encourage you to contact the Board President (president@bstva.org) or the Office (office@bstva.org). If you are interested in becoming a member of our family, please use the form below. If you are interested in converting to Judaism we have an active conversion program. Please contact the Office for more information.
Click on the word calendar to see our schedule of services, meetings and events. In addition, we have an official BST Facebook page upon which we publish various activities of interest.
Again, we look forward to your membership and the strengths you can add to our temple family.

Dues Policy at Beth Sholom Temple
Dues at Beth Sholom Temple are voluntary. We have a suggested dues amount for each dues category (i.e., Family, Single, Single Parent, Seniors, Under 30, and Active Military). This amount is based on if every member paid the full suggested amount we would be able to meet our financial commitments in the budget. With our voluntary dues policy, the suggested dues is simply that, a suggestion. You determine how much you want to contribute each year. No questions will be asked about how much you choose to contribute. Only then Treausurer and President are privy to members' commitments. There is no need to request permission to pay anything different from the suggested amount. Furthermore, NO ONE is excluded from membership for the inability to pay the suggested dues rate or dues at all. If you have any questions about this, please contact Ellen Grady at treasurer@bstva.org or 703-975-1503 .
