High Holy Days 5782
Please click here for more information
Despite how challenging the last year and a half has been, we are grateful and optimistic that we will be able to reopen for High Holy Days. We know that some will still choose to participate in the season virtually, while others will participate in person. Though we are still working on procedures and schedules, Beth Sholom is dedicated to providing a variety of ways to bring our community together spiritually to celebrate year 5782. Here's to a sweeter, safer new year for all of us.
High Holy Days Service Registration
For everyone's safety and security, we're asking that worshippers both pre-register and provide proof of vaccination in advance if you're joining us in-person. Unvaccinated children should not attend in-person services. For in-person attendance, temple volunteers are calling members to share this year's plans and taking reservations. You can also reserve seats in the sanctuary by contacting Edie Evans at gatoredie@gmail.com or the temple office at office@bstva.org, or sign up to attend in-person at the August 29 Open House, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
You can provide proof of vaccination in one of three ways:
1. Email a photo or scan of your vaccination card to office@bstva.org
2. Mail a photo copy of your vaccination card to BST at 805 Lyons Blvd., Fredericksburg, Va. 22406
3. Present your vaccination card to an HHD Committee member at the Aug. 29 Open House.
Once you have shared proof of vaccination, you will not need to do it again; those of you who have already provided BST with this info are good to go.
For virtual attendance, simply join us on Zoom at the link below. Friends and family are welcome, and no need to pre-register! The schedule for all services is also below.

Message from Cantor Shermet
Shalom! I am Cantor Wendy Shermet, and have the privilege of sharing our Yanim Noraim, Days of Awe, with you in Fredericksburg this September. The BST High Holiday committee was diligently preparing even before Covid-19 became the threat we know it to be today. We have had regular online communication to formulate services that will speak to us and be meaningful despite the challenges all are facing. We can and will celebrate the beauty of this season, and share with each other as much as safely possible.
For the month of Elul, which precedes Rosh Hashana, have prepared a list of music which is accessible on YouTube. The music has been chosen from a variety of sources, cantors and composers, to help you aurally prepare for the season.
Prayer Books
High Holy Day Prayer Books – In an effort to better “feel the weight” of the holidays, we’ve chosen not to display prayers on the screen like during Shabbat Services and instead would like to loan out the Temple’s High Holy Day Machsors for those who would like to pray with a physical prayer book. We're planning to distribute holiday prayer books at Open House on August 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., along with collecting donations for the food bank (as part of our traditional High Holy Days food drive). For an added measure of safety, you will use the same prayer books throughout the holidays, and we will collect them afterwards. For those who would prefer, Mishkan Ha’Nefesh is available for purchase at a discount, or as a free flip book online. Click the links below to access the download options for each book!
