Friday, February 4, 2022 3 Adar I 5782

6:30 PM - 8:00 PMBST Sanctuary

led by Mike Haas; all current and former scouts are invited to wear their uniforms and badges and participate in the service!

Come celebrate Scout Shabbat! We will honor Scouts and Scout leaders during Beth Sholom Temple’s Erev Shabbat service, Friday evening starting at 6:30 PM, on February 4, 2022 to commemorate the founding of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) on February 8, 1910, and the Girl Scouts of America in 1912.

The National Jewish Committee on Scouting (NJCOS) @ http://www.jewishscouting.org/  “urges all Jewish Scouting youth to show pride in our Jewish and Scouting heritages by participating in a Scout Shabbat service.”  This is open to all Scouts and adult Scout leaders in all Scouting programs -  Boy and Girl Scouts.  All Scouts and adult leaders are urged to attend this service in full uniform and, if earned, to also display their appropriate Jewish religious awards/medals. If you wish to participate, please RSVP to the Temple office @ 540-373-4834 by January 14, 2022, so we can order patches and offer chances to participate in the service.

Scouts wanting to earn their BSA Jewish religious award can visit BSA’s NJCOS website @ https://www.jewishscouting.org/ and select their Scouting program (by age and level) under “Emblems & Awards”.  The Girl Scout official site is @ http://www.girlscouts.org/en/about-girl-scouts/girl-scouts-and-faith.html  And the National Jewish Committee on Girl Scouting @ http://njcgs.org/  has the most current requirements (by age and level of Scouting).  Feel free to contact Mike Haas @ email: mikehaas1111@gmail.com or call Mike @ 540.809.4926.
